At CORSM, every new patient undergoes a comprehensive rehabilitation evaluation. This includes gathering a detailed medical history and reviewing diagnostic imaging. Each dog receives a thorough physical, orthopedic, and neurological examination to assess gait, pain on palpation, range of motion, motor control and strength, as well as muscle tone and atrophy. This evaluation allows us to create a tailored treatment plan that best supports each dog's recovery and performance.
A comprehensive care plan will be tailored to meet the unique needs and goals of both the dog and owner throughout the rehabilitation journey. This plan will include customized home exercises, structured rehab protocols, pain management therapies, and adjunct treatments to support optimal recovery and well-being.

Therapeutic Ultrasound uses high-frequency sound waves (0.5–5 MHz) to reduce inflammation and pain by creating mechanical vibrations in tissues. At higher intensities, it produces thermal effects, including tissue heating, which alleviates pain, decreases fluid viscosity, and boosts blood flow and metabolism. At lower intensities or with pulsed ultrasound, non-thermal effects like stable cavitation (gas bubble formation), standing waves (interference of sound waves), and acoustic streaming (fluid movement) occur, enhancing cell membrane permeability, nutrient transfer, and tissue repair.
Electrotherapy is a non-invasive treatment that uses low- to medium-frequency electric currents to stimulate nerves and muscles through the skin. Common types include Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS) for pain relief and Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation (NMES) to promote muscle contractions.

Orthotics (braces) and prosthetics (artificial limbs) are customized to address your pet’s unique therapeutic needs. We will assess whether an over-the-counter (OTC) device or a custom solution is most suitable. If a custom orthotic is required, a follow-up appointment will be scheduled for measurements and casting. For pets with mobility challenges, we may recommend a custom Eddie's Wheel or an OTC Walkin' Wheel cart to improve movement and support. We also recommend rehab sessions to help your pet adjust to and properly use the orthotic or cart.

Nutraceuticals are foods or supplements with medicinal benefits that can help reduce or eliminate the need for medications. While they can be part of a whole-body approach, it's crucial to research products, as not all deliver on their claims. For example, a study on chondroitin found many costly supplements failed to meet 90% of their claims. Partnering with us ensures you use scientifically tested, high-quality products, helping you sift through the claims and make informed choices for your pet's health.
Therapeutic exercises are core to rehab and improve physical and mental well-being, aiding recovery from injuries or surgeries. These exercises help increase range of motion, support joints, build strength, improve balance and flexibility, and boost endurance. They also support daily function, prevent further injury, and improve gait and posture. Additionally, therapeutic exercises promote psychological well-being for both the dog and their owner, enhancing overall quality of life.

Acupuncture has been used for thousands of years in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and is now increasingly recognized in modern veterinary care as an effective treatment for a variety of conditions. Whether you're managing a chronic injury, alleviating pain, or seeking to boost your dog's overall health, acupuncture can be a valuable addition to your pet's wellness regimen.

Hydrotherapy utilizes the unique properties of water—buoyancy, hydrostatic pressure, and resistance—to create a therapeutic environment that’s gentler on the body than land-based exercises. Buoyancy reduces joint stress and supports freer movement, while hydrostatic pressure helps decrease swelling and improves joint awareness, essential for rehabilitation. The water’s resistance also strengthens muscles without the need for weights, making hydrotherapy ideal for various physical conditions.
Photobiomodulation (PBM) therapy uses non-ionizing light in the visible and near-infrared spectrum to promote healing & tissue repair and reduce pain & inflammation. PBM stimulates cellular processes, primarily through the cytochrome c complex in mitochondria, enhancing ATP production and releasing nitric oxide and reactive oxygen species. These molecules promote tissue repair, reduce inflammation, and improve circulation, aiding in faster healing and regeneration. PBM is also referred to as cold laser therapy.
